Wakefield Thornes CC

Welcome To Wakefield Thornes

Welcome to Wakefield Thornes for the 2009 cricket season. The Club continues to grow and in 2009 will be running two senior teams in the Central Yorkshire League, a third team in the Leeds West Riding League and up to seven junior teams in the Heavy Woollen and Leeds Junior Cricket Leagues and Under 9's festivals.

We offer good quality competitive cricket, a great club and team atmosphere, and a possibly unique programme of social activities!

The Club had an outstanding season in 2008, culminating in:
- 1st Team finishing fourth in its first season in the CYCL Premier Division and winning the Jack Hampshire Cup for the first time in the Clubs history
- 2nd Team winning the CYCL 3rd Division title
- 3rd team winning the 20/20 Festival Trophy
- A magnificent season of junior cricket saw the Under 13's reach the national final of the MCC Spirit of Cricket competition having won the Heavy Woollen, Yorkshire, Regional, North/Scotland finals along the way.

Off the field we continued to progress completing a new 2 bay artificial grass net facility.

With the support of a number of partners we have started to build the new Pavillion, we still need more help & funding to complete the project. (See News for further details)
